Tony and Julie
Tony and Julie moved to Hereford AZ from Calif in 2003. Although Tony had been a regular birding visitor to S/E AZ since the late 80's, he first introduced Julie to the birding and other natural wonders of Arizona in 1999. Julie immediately fell in love with the area. That trip convinced them that this was going to be the place that they would retire to. In 2003, they moved from Calif, to their present home located at the lower end of famed Miller Canyon in the Huachuca Mountains. Tony and Julie thought that operating a birder-friendly B&B would be a great way to share their passion for birding. Since opening their B&B in the spring of 2004, they have entertained guests from 40 states, 5 Canadian provinces and 5 foreign countries.
Tony has been birding since 1985, and has amassed a life list somewhere beyond 650 birds. He has led fieldtrips throughout Calif including coastal hotspots such as Pt Reyes Nat'l Seashore and Half Moon Bay, Klamath-Tule Basin in N/E CA, the High Sierras and Mono Basin, and desert hotspots such as Morongo Valley, Joshua Tree Nat'l Pk, and the Salton Sea. Since moving to AZ, he has done personal guiding and has been a trip leader for the past two years for the Southwest Wings Birding Festival held each year in Aug. Tony willingly shares his birding expertise with guests of their B&B, setting up itineraries, arranging personal guides (see our links to various local guides) or personally leading them to local hotspots.
Julie's outgoing personality, strong family values, spirituality, and just plain friendliness helps to create a real comfortable atmosphere for even the most intense and driven birders. Her attention to detail in our guest rooms are marveled at by our guests. She sees to it that all needs are met whether it be special diet considerations, extra pillows or treats to satisfy one's sweet tooth. Guests come as strangers but leave as friends. The returned business has validated this slogan.
